Retrying Failed Submissions
What to do when a submission fails to sync to Google Sheets.
Why submissions fail
Occasionally, a submission might fail to sync to your Google Sheet. Common reasons include:
- A temporary Google API outage or rate limit
- Your Google account permissions were revoked or expired
- The Google Sheet was deleted or moved
- A network interruption during the sync
Don’t worry — your data is never lost. Failed submissions are safely stored and can be retried.
Automatic retries
LeadToSheet automatically retries failed submissions up to 4 times with increasing wait times between each attempt:
- 1st retry — after 1 minute
- 2nd retry — after 5 minutes
- 3rd retry — after 25 minutes
- 4th retry — after about 2 hours
Most temporary issues resolve themselves within the first couple of retries.
Manual retry
If a submission has failed and you want to retry it immediately:
- 1
Open the site Overview
From the sidebar, choose the site whose submission failed and stay on the Overview page.
- 2
Find the failed submission in Recent Activity
Scroll down to the Recent Activity section. Submissions with a "Failed" sync status show a Retry button on the right of their row. You can also re-sync any lead from its own row on the Leads page.
- 3
Click Retry
Click the Retry button next to the failed submission. LeadToSheet schedules an immediate sync attempt and the icon spins while it runs.
Important
If a submission keeps failing after multiple retries, the issue is likely with your Google Sheets connection. Check our troubleshooting guide for Google Sheets connection issues.
