Google Sheets Connection Issues

Fix problems with your Google Drive connection and sheet access.

"Google Drive setup needed" message

If you see a message on your dashboard saying Google Drive setup is needed, it means Lead to Sheet doesn’t have permission to create or access a Google Sheet on your behalf. This can happen if:

  • You signed up without granting Google Drive permissions
  • Your Google Drive permissions were revoked
  • The original Google account connection expired

To fix this, you’ll need to reconnect your Google account with the required permissions.

Reconnecting your Google account

  1. 1

Log out of Lead to Sheet

Sign out of your current session.

  2. 2

    Sign back in with Google

On the login page, click "Continue with Google" and make sure to approve all permission requests.

  3. 3

Check for the Drive permission prompt

Google will ask you to grant Lead to Sheet permission to create files in your Drive. Make sure to allow this.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

After signing in, check your dashboard. The Google Sheets integration card should now show your spreadsheet link.

Tip

Lead to Sheet only requests permission to access files it creates. It never reads or modifies your other Google Drive files.

Sheet was deleted or moved

If your Google Sheet was accidentally deleted or moved to the trash:

  1. 1

    Check your Google Drive trash

Open Google Drive, go to Trash, and look for a spreadsheet with your business name (e.g., "Acme Corp - Form Submissions").

  2. 2

    Restore the sheet

Right-click the file and select "Restore". It will be moved back to its original location.

  3. 3

    Retry failed submissions

Go back to Lead to Sheet and retry any failed submissions. They should now sync successfully.

Note

If the sheet was permanently deleted (emptied from trash), contact us at support@leadtosheet.com. We can help create a new sheet and your existing submission data is still safely stored in Lead to Sheet.

Permission errors

If you’re seeing permission-related errors, it usually means the Google OAuth token has expired or been revoked. This can happen if:

  • You changed your Google account password
  • You revoked Lead to Sheet’s access in your Google Account settings
  • Your organization’s admin restricted third-party app access
  • The token expired naturally (rare, but can happen with long periods of inactivity)

The fix is the same: log out and sign back in with Google to refresh the connection.
